Resting on the Lord's Day

We had a relaxing Sunday evening, outside together while the sun was setting. Playing, riding bikes, taking pictures, playing ball. Signs of Autumn were all around us -- the smell of wet leaves and the sweet aroma of freshly harvested hay, a mama bluejay scolding her young'uns to come in for the night, honking geese alerting us of their travel plans to continue on farther south... We had leisurely chats with neighbors while the basketball was steadily being dribbled in the fading golden light. Then the sound of the bouncing ball also faded as we trickled back into our warm home. I was the last one in. I wanted to savor an autumn evening. I looked up at the darkening sky and sighed a sigh of contentment. This was a good day. Safely through another week. Ready for another.

"At Thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore." (Ps. 16) It's a gift from God to stop, enjoy, and rest in His "pleasures forevermore," wherever we may be.
